Walkabout Hey all. Haven't written anything in a while. I've got a million excuses as to why, but I'll spare you for now.
Since I last posted a blog I've gone from national sales director of a guitar company to organic farmer. From schmoozing with big name recording acts to throwing rocks at moles and groundhogs. From running marathons all over the place to struggling through five mile hikes with a bum knee. From single to shopping for engagement rings and back again. From an apartment in the city to a tent in the mountains. From Maine to Ireland to North Carolina to Minnesota to Nashville to Florida and back to Maine.
The past 8 months roared by and stirred up a lot of muck in the process. I can't help but think going for a run would clear away enough of it to expose the lessons there to learn. When I run the dust settles and simple solutions to problems show themselves. The faster my heart beats and the more I sweat the clearer things become. Life gets very simple.
The thing is, I can't run right now. My knee will have none of it.
I can walk however. So that's what I'm a gonna do (spoken in my best Gump). I'm sure I won't get the runners high I love so much, and I imagine the moments of clarity won't occur as suddenly and dramatically as they typically do during a run, but if the end goal is to simplify things than walking should do the trick.
Walk far enough, life gets simple. Life get's simple enough, things start to make sense. Hey, I may have found a mantra...
