Hello there. I was unaware of this tragedy. I am SO saddened and troubled to hear of your/everyone's loss of Chris. My deepest sympathy to you and your family. I did not know Chris well. We met at The Pineland farms 50K Trail Race in 2006. It was after the race in the parking area - he and your Dad were parked next to me. We struck up a conversation and I felt an immediate like for Chris. We exchanged email addresses and emailed with each other a bit. He was just getting going in the world of trail/ultrarunning and I had already been at it for years so we wrote to each other about some of our favorite trails and mountains in the Farmington, Weld, Western Maine area. We kept trying to get our schedules together for a run but between his comings and goings, my family life, professional life, training and racing, it just never happened. It is a real testament to Chris and the life he lived to watch, listen, read some of the wonderful things on his website. In our one, relatively brief face-to-face encounter I was struck by his enthusiam, positive energy, upbeat attitude, and intensity. I have no doubt that he touched many lives with those qualities in the short time he was with us. It was clear that he was destined to bring his gifts to bear for the good of all who had the good fortune to know him. I will think of Chris in every race I run. With sympathy and care, David Huish
